She prefers to be known simply as Ly. A daughter of a Southern Vietnamese Marine officer in a post-Vietnam war era, she endured the hardships of political oppression forced upon her family. Fortunately, through the Orderly Departure Program, her family and she resettled in the United States in 1993 to Orono, Maine and relocated to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa a few years later where she completed her secondary education with honors.

She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management of Information System from the University of Iowa. Her interest in Medicine began shortly after her mom fell ill. She recognized the multifaceted of healthcare involving struggle of medical terminology loss in translation to simple English as well as her mom’s native tongue, cost of medical procedures, transitions to specialties, allocation of time, resources and emotion to restore the balance of health and life beyond healthcare. She returned to the University and dedicated her time to the study of Medicine and elected the PA path. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. She completed vigorous PA training through multiple hospitals, including the Brooklyn hospital center, Beth Israel Medical center, Maimonides Medical center and the Parker Jewish Institute in New York. She has maintained her board certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She completed comprehensive training by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She is highly motivated, dedicated, well-organized and efficient and is licensed in the state of Iowa to practice medicine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical conditions. She has special interests in treating patients with sleep disorder breathing, narcolepsy and circadian rhythm disturbances. She is passionate in educating and empowering healthy sleep. She is a firm believer in education and advocate for patients.

She is a member of American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Associate of Physician Assistants and Iowa Physician Assistants Society. In her rare spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, reading, gardening, traveling and mushroom hunting.
