WHAT IS CIRCADIAN RHYTHM DISORDER?
Humans have an internal biologic clock. Various hormonal levels can ebb and flow during different times of the day. This internal clock will also regulate our sleep/wake cycle. It is no surprise that this clock appears to be on about a 24-hour cycle. Sleep problems can occur when our internal clock for sleep does not seem to correspond with our desired time for sleep and wakefulness. This is a very common problem with workers who do not work a regular shift. This is often also seen in college students who after graduating find it difficult to adjust to an 8-5 job. Experts at DSM Sleep Specialists can accurately diagnose and treat this problem.
